LindaI earned my bachelor's of arts degree in Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Rutgers University. I appreciated my education, and enjoy helping students meet or beat their academic goals. My tutoring specialty lies in assisting students as they study for standardized tests such as the SAT and GRE, among others. I feel the excitement along with my student when they are able to achieve the score needed to get into their first choice school. Because students are all different, and have many different styles of learning, I use an individualized tutoring approach for each one. I take the time to learn their strengths and interests, and use these to improve on areas of weakness. I don't lecture my tutoring students. I work with them, as a team, to guide them toward the success they are capable of achieving. I don't believe that success is given to students based on superior intelligence. Instead, I believe that hard work and dedication are what leads students through difficulties towards their successes. I work with students at different levels, and have found that I am good at helping students reduce their levels of testing anxiety, working with them in a relaxed, safe environment until they feel the exams to be more approachable.

ChadI am a Spanish tutor with nine years of experience teaching high school Spanish. I have an undergraduate degree in Spanish in secondary education, and I also have master's degrees in both educational leadership and curriculum, instruction, and assessment. I'm now an administrator a technical and vocational high school, but I still love teaching others about the Spanish language and its culture. When I have free time, I like to hang out with my family.

AndrewMy work as a professional educator has brought the experience of teaching students in many different places, including the US, Ghana, and Spain. My work has given me first-hand knowledge in what it takes to be a proficient educator. During my teaching experiences, I have discovered that literacy is the key to understanding all academic studies. If a student struggles in a subject, whether math, science, or reading, their literacy is generally at the heart of the problem. Students who are learning in a second language will struggle because of their lack of comprehension, just the same as students who are learning subject specific vocabulary in their native language. Taking the time to teach the student literacy in their subject will increase their learning. My strong belief in teaching literacy as the cornerstone of education has led me to focus my own studies in literacy education B-6. While working with students, I teach them a variety of comprehension and learning strategies as well as the necessary life skills needed to become confident learners. I believe in giving students the tools that will provide them the ability to be self-sufficient in the learning process and to make learning a fun experience for them.
