I earned my Bachelor in Arts from Macalester College in mathematics. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in college student counseling and personnel services. During my time as an undergrad student, I spent a lot of time as a tutor. I created private sessions with students that focused on math and college preparation. I greatly enjoy tutoring students and helping them understand math. I've found that math is a critical part of the real world, and a deeper understanding of math can lead to stronger problem solving and critical thinking skills. A strong foundation in math can additionally help people become more detail oriented and patient. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy golf, baking, and spending time with my loved ones.Education

I never studied education, but my life has thrown several teaching situations at me that instilled a passion for it within me. As a senior at Penn State University, I taught weekly courses in Biodiversity, Physiology, and Developmental Biology that included both labs and didactic recitations. As a grad student, I became a professional tutor working in both one-on-one and group learning environments. Today, I am assistant teaching several grad-level public health courses at Columbia. I'm still in touch with many of my former students, and they continue to praise my classroom humor, grasp of the material, and commitment to every student I work with. I have also taken and passed several difficult standardized exams over my career, including the MCAT and GRE. I learned a lot about how to study and approach exams in the process, and would be delighted to share my proven techniques with students. I can also help edit your college admission essays and/or personal statements for college or grad school applications.Education
