I attended Penn State University, where I earned my bachelor's of science in elementary education, with a minor in special education, for which I am certified. My greatest love is working with young students, and am working on earning my reading specialist certificate. I have the opportunity to tutor students when I was in college, including young ELL learners (learning English). I was able to guide them as they worked on homework, and help them understand concepts they needed help with. I have also spent a year teaching kindergarten, and currently work as a substitute for all elementary grade levels. I'm able to tutor a wide variety of subjects, but feel most confident and comfortable working with elementary school students, particularly in language arts. Because I have a passion for reading, I like to pass that forward to my students. When I'm tutoring, I'm aware that children each have their most effective ways of learning, and I keep that in mind as I plan lessons and activities. Meeting students where they are at is the most effective way to help them along, rather than trying to fit them into a one-size-fits-all mold. When not teaching, I enjoy reading, baking, cooking, and staying active.Education

I attended UT - Arlington for my bachelor's degree in nursing. I'm currently working as a nurse and tutoring students in Mandarin Chinese and math topics. It incredibly rewarding to help students become independent learners who are confident in their abilities. I can tutor Mandarin Chinese in any level, and I can help students learn math from the elementary school level through college algebra. When I have free time, I like to jog, write, and read.Education

I am thrilled to get the opportunity to help eager students with their grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and understanding of literature. For the past 12 years, I've worked as an English and language arts teacher for middle and high school students. Along with a bachelor's degree in English, I also received a master's degree in English secondary education from Boston University. Ever since then, I've been actively working in the classroom to teach students and inspire them to succeed in all walks of life. The thing that I love about tutoring is being able to work with students individually. I believe that one-on-one sessions are a great way to truly get to know a student and learn more about their strengths, weaknesses, and specific needs. I also believe that there's no such thing as a correct way to teach. Every student learns differently, and before you can help students succeed, you first need to learn what learning style works best for them. As a teacher and a parent, I have been able to see firsthand how important it is to have someone in your life that can assist you with all of the challenges you face along the way. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy hiking, skiing, and running.Education
