TheresaI have a bachelor's degree in special ed that I earned at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, along with a teaching certificate. I've been teaching for the past seven years, including five years teaching special needs students at a middle school. I'm certified for special ed for kindergartners through 12th-graders. I began working privately with students of various ability and ages three years ago. As a teacher and tutor, I find it very rewarding to see students develop their own learning skills and experience success.

NickMy goal as a tutor is to help students learn material effectively and efficiently. I first need to get to know the student to be able to accomplish this. Once I know how a student learns, I can adjust my approach to teach them in the most effective way for their unique learning style. I love tutoring, I love teaching, and I've been tutoring full-time for a year. I generally tutor high school level and early college-level physics, chemistry, and math courses, and their counterparts on standardized tests like the GRE quantitative section, SAT math section, and ACT math and science sections. I attended Kalamazoo College to earn my bachelor's degree in chemistry, and then I moved on to the University of Michigan to earn my master's degree in organic chemistry. At Kalamazoo I was a TA, and I taught as a student instructor at the University of Michigan. When I have free time, I enjoy athletics and music. I sing with barbershop choruses, and I've sing a cappella for a long time. I enjoyed being a baseball and football player in high school, and I enjoy a pickup basketball game whenever I can find one. I also enjoy science documentaries and video games.

BrookeI've always been skilled in math, and my goal as a tutor is to help students develop the ability to learn math more easily. I began tutoring as a middle school student, and I currently teach biology at the high school level. I love tutoring because I get to help students, and it's very rewarding when students feel pride because they have come to understand a new concept. I use a lot of visuals to explain ideas, and I also relate concepts we study with examples of them in the real world. I want students to have a full understanding of the concepts in any subject, because this gives them the ability to apply their knowledge on new learning. When I have free time, I like to hike, play chess and basketball, play video games, and work around the house.
