I'm attending Ohio State University for my bachelor's degree in economics, but as a tutor I enjoy helping students learn math. I had the opportunity to tutor my peers as a high school student throughout my high school courses and particularly in AP calculus. I think it's vitally important for math students to gain a full understanding of the subject as opposed to memorizing formulas or identifying patterns. I observe my students as they work through problems, which gives me insight into where the gaps in their knowledge exist. I talk students through these obstacles without giving away answers, helping them become independent learners. In my free time, I like to watch movies and read.Education

I'm studying towards my BA in Spanish at The University of Akron. I have a real passion for the Spanish language, as well as the culture of Spanish speaking countries. Through my education, I've had the opportunity to live in Mexico and immerse myself in the culture and language. I especially loved eating authentic Mexican food. When I tutor students, I have developed techniques for helping them understand Spanish in a comfortable, confident way. I guide them as they grasp the concepts, and then we dig deeper. I initially assist my student in setting a goal, and then help them make and travel the path to reach that goal. I'll oversee them as they work on homework assignments, helping with concepts if they need a hand, and then do some hands-on activities to reinforce what they've learned. I develop a rapport with my tutoring students, so they can reach out to me as they achieve success in important areas of their lives. I enjoy everything about the Spanish language, and I derive satisfaction from helping students learn this beautiful language. In my spare time, I like reading, specifically mysteries, and watching all genres of movies.Education

I'm Beth, and I graduated from Allegheny College with a bachelor's degree in history. I love to learn, and I love to teach. I want to be a professional teacher in the future. I've always enjoyed school, and I've been lucky enough to have instructors who loved the topics they taught. I believe a passion for the subject is key to effective teaching, and I want to share my love of the subjects I teach with my students in hopes that they will come to enjoy the subjects as well. I want students to enjoy the learning process and develop a desire to learn more on their own. I can tutor students in biology, history, reading, writing, literature, English grammar, religions, and test prep for the ACT, PSAT, and others. When I have free time, I like to write, read, and draw. I also enjoy volleyball and theater.Education
