I went to Wayne State University to earn my bachelor's degree in English, graduating with honors. I switched my major from physics to English, so I've taken plenty of science and math courses as well. I also attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for a master's degree in theological studies. Since graduating, I've had the opportunity to teach composition, Shakespeare, and American literature. I love teaching, and I can help students learn a number of different topics, but my favorites are composition and literature. I'm skilled at modifying my approach to match the learning style, age, ability, and needs of each student I work with. When I have free time, I enjoy playing the guitar, chess, watching the theater, reading, and spending time with my family.Education

I attended Kansas State University to earn my bachelor's degree in biochemistry. I became a member of the international honor society Golden Key, and I was recognized with research awards. I then went on to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for my doctoral degree. There, I also received fellowships and awards, along with publishing scientific papers. I currently work for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a scientist. As a student, I was the go to person for my peers when they needed help understanding something. I tutored peers as a high school student and throughout my higher learning career. I also taught biology to graduate students and undergraduates, and I've had the opportunity to mentor plenty of students in the sciences. I'm skilled at explaining complex concepts in ways that are easier for people to grasp. I'm also very patient when I work with a student, and we go at their pace while I provide guidance. I'm confident that the students I work with will improve their scores. When I have free time, I like to explore the Pacific Northwest. I can do this by hiking, skiing, and other activities. I also enjoy cooking. I'm looking forward to tutoring students in anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, microbiology, algebra, organic chemistry, pre-algebra, and other related courses.Education

I have five years of experience as a teacher. During that time I've taught social studies and math at the middle school level, title I math, and all subjects as a fourth grade teacher. I also have spent the past four years tutoring, and I can help students learn algebra, geometry, elementary and middle school level math topics, reading, and English.
