KatieTutoring is something that is very special to me. I needed a career that would combine my two passions helping others and learning new things. I not only want my pupils to learn the information, I hope they gain confidence in their studies. I have tutored for over four years, I began my freshman year of high school. I later tutored through the National Honors Society in my final year of high school. Right now I am attending Ithaca College; I am a biology major and minoring in anthropology. I want to pursue a future in medicine. I want to show the students I tutor how fun and exciting learning can be. I want to help you, just as much as I want to learn from you. In my spare time, you can find me playing soccer, enjoying art, and playing the piano. I look forward to meeting you and helping you meet your academic goals.

CarrieI love English and have been teaching it for the last 15 years since completing a degree in English Education. Subjects I tutor include reading, writing, grammar and syntax, and comparative literature. I tutor both high school and college English, and I am happy to help students prepare for college by tutoring them in English, reading, and writing for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. I believe my students see my passion for English when I begin teaching them, and I hope that passion helps them to become passionate about the subject as well. Teaching, individual tutoring, and parenting have given me great insights into learning and led me to develop approaches to critical reading, grammar, and composition that offer a lifetime benefit to my students. I am particularly proud of the strategies I use to assist students in gaining confidence when preparing to take the ACT and SAT. Since learning is a crucial skill, I feel that my main goal is to guide students in determining how they best learn so that they can use those techniques and methods in the future. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family and volunteering.

AprilI am a Biology major, currently working on my undergraduate degree while attending Siena College. In the future, I plan to further my education by earning my PhD in biology at a graduate school. I would like to one day become a biology professor and teach at the college level. My love of biology has led me to want to instill this love in others, which I strive to do as a biology tutor. I also offer tutoring in English, math, and test prep. I have previous experience tutoring at the high school level for mathematics and English, as well as a scientific writing class in which I helped students with their papers and led various workshops. I have also taught faith formation classes to various ages. As a tutor, I strive to be patient, dedicated and understanding, which I believe is essential. Having someone believe in you and willing to take time to help you understand concepts you are struggling with can be invaluable. It is my goal to teach my students how to set attainable goals and help them achieve them by coming prepared to each and every session. When I am not working or attending school, I enjoy music, writing, art, and being in the outdoors.
