DanI earned a bachelor's degree in creative writing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a master's degree in general literature from the same place. I can help with test prep, music, writing, literacy, and English. I love literature and English and teaching everything related to these subjects. I believe that a poor teacher can cause great students to slip through the cracks. As a tutor, I do everything I can to make content interesting and engaging. I try to foster a deep understanding of the material if not a love for it in all of my students. I enjoy tabletop gaming, reading, and listening to music in my spare time.

CindyI have loved learning throughout my life, and discovered that I also loved teaching when I worked as a writing tutor while attending college. I enjoyed my time with the general school population in that role, but I really treasured time spent working with special needs and ESL students. Little did I know that it would prove incredibly valuable, as I now have four of my own children: two of whom are on the autistic spectrum while another has dyslexia and ADHD. We made the decision to teach our children at home, allowing me to address each of their needs in a one on one learning environment. My goal is never to help a child pass a test, but instead instill within them an interest in learning that will serve them well throughout their lives. In the words of Albert Einstein, "I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn."
